The Will of Reverend FRANCIS CHARLES DRAKE 1896
I The Reverend FRANCIS CHARLES DRAKE of Grazeley Court near Reading in the county of Berks do hereby revoke all former wills codicils and testamentary dispositions by me made and declare this to be my last will
I direct that all my funeral and testamentary expenses and debts (including a sum of two thousand six hundred and forty pounds which I owe to the trustees of the Settlement bearing date the seventh day of February one thousand eight hundred and seventy nine made by my late father in law Joseph Giles deceased in favor of my late wife Sarah Catherine Drake myself and our children and interest on the aforesaid sum from the day of my decease until payment of the aforesaid sum at the rate of three pounds per centum per annum and also including if the same shall become payable a sum of three thousand pounds and interest thereon from the day of my decease until Payment of the said last mentioned sum at the rate of three pounds per centum per annum which in the settlement bearing even date herewith made in contemplation of the now intended marriage of my daughter, Constance Mary Drake with Seymour James Dubourg Esquire I have covenanted shall in the event of the said intended marriage being solemnized within three calendar months from the date of the said last mentioned settlement be paid to the Trustees thereof within eighteen calendar months after my decease shall be paid as soon as reasonably can be after my decease And in the event of the said intended marriage not being solemnized within the aforesaid three calendar months but not otherwise I bequeath the said sum of three thousand pounds (free or duty) with interest thereon from the day of my decease at the rate aforesaid unto my said daughter Constance-Mary Drake absolutely I bequeath to Charlotte Eades (who is now in my service whether she shall or shall not be in my service at the time of my decease) during her life an annuity of twenty-six pounds (free of duty) commencing from the day of my decease and to be payable half yearly on the twenty-fourth day of June and the twenty-fifth day of December the first payment or an apportioned part of the said annuity from the day of my decease to be made on such of the said days as shall happen next after my decease And I devise and bequeath all the real and personal estate of or to which I shall be seized possessed or entitled at the time of my decease or of which I shall then have power to dispose by will (not other-wise disposed of by this my will or any codicil hereto) unto my son Bernard Francis Drake absolutely and beneficially but nevertheless charged with the payment of my funeral and testamentary expenses and debts and the legacies and annuities bequeathed by this my will or any codicil hereto and the duties on any legacies and annuities by me bequeathed free of duty
And I appoint my said son Bernard Francis Drake. sole EXECUTOR of this my will
IN WITNESS Whereof I the said Francis Charles Drake the testator have hereunder set my hand this tenth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six
