Jonathan was a physician of Bridgewater.

In 1823 Jonathan Toogood was elected Mayor of Bridgwater. He was mainly instrumental in founding the infirmary in that town, and there is a full length portrait of him at the head of the main staircase of that institution.

Jonathan married Ann GILES [13060] [MRIN: 4390], daughter of John GILES of Southwick House [10494] and Mary SAUNDERS [10495], on 24 Nov 1806. (Ann GILES [13060] was born on 2 Oct 1786 in Southwick House Mark SOM and died on 27 Apr 1875 in Manor House Weston Bath SOM.)
