bullet  General Notes:

Burton is a remote and isolated locality at the base of the Roman Fell in the Pennines.

Post-medieval Burton consisted of Burton Hall - which was built on the same site as the second medieval manor house and incorporated some of the features of this earlier building. It is believed that the second medieval manor house at Burton was constructed during C15. Nothing of this second medieval house along with the post-medieval Burton Hall survives above ground. Had moat and fishponds, possibly fortified.

Jonathan was recorded as "of Burton Hall" at the baptism of his son Jonathan, he may have been leasing it from the Wybergh family, owners from 1720 to 1942 when the War Dept., requisitioned the property and the buildings were leveled.
